Are Live Networking Events Fading Away Because of Social Media?

Okay the question for the day, Are you positively or negatively moved to attend, or not attend, live (as in face-to-face) events?

Take this Survey and see what others are saying about how places like Facebook, Twitter and Blogs maybe impacting their lives.

http://socialtoo.com/survey/view/1482

As a great example, I'm going to be speaking at an awesome luncheon event that has some of the best networkers and business owners in Las Vegas attending. These people know what it means to build relationships and support their networking family.

I've had about a dozen one-on-one meetings with many of the regular attendees, and all of them were great. Some of us talked about life and family and rarely mentioned business. Others discussed their concerns for their industry or their company.

Either way, I feel I've developed closer friends through these events than through any others I've attended here in Las Vegas.

Does that mean that other events aren't as good? No, that isn't what I'm saying...I just wasn't able to give of myself as easily as I do with this group I meet with on Thursday.

Truly friendly people that care about the whole group, not just "Getting a Lead"!

Interested in attending? Go here and register while you learn about all the details:
http://www.bizpacknetworks.com/id65.html

When you get there make sure we meet. I love helping my community grow. I know some church groups and families that don't get along as well as we do.

Oh yea, my speaking gig there is on The Myths of Networking.

I'll present at other times from The 10 Minute Income Accelerator Series I'm putting together and launching via The Internet as well as Offline.

Topics I'm covering at other time through this group will include:
  1. Using S.A.M. (It's a secret you have to attend to find out what S.A.M. is) to Double your Income,
  2. Publicity...a lot more than just a Press Release,
  3. How to write a Book in a week and earn $50,000 with it even if is unpublished,
  4. Why Social Media is Bigger than the Invention of Television and how you can Profit from it.

Again take my Survey and come on Thursday if you are here in Las Vegas...If not contact me for future dates or subscribe to my blogs or Facebook and Twitter accounts to hear about when I launch my Free trainings and seminars.

Wanna Promote Your Business?Do it by Writing a Book

If you are an Internet business owner you are familiar with online marketing and promoting. There are many different ways to promote a product or service online, but one fantastic way to get attention drawn to your web site or products is by writing your own book. While book writing might seem time consuming and difficult with a bit of help it can be accomplished. By writing a book you will be creating a new platform for the advertisement and promotion of your own web sites, products, and services.

Writing a book might seem like a daunting task but it can be done if you follow a few pieces of advice. These tips have helped many people successfully outline and write their own books which they have successful used to drive targeted traffic to their web site and convert this traffic into sales. In addition to getting additional traffic for a web site which leads to more sales a book is also a wonderful source of passive income.

Before you can begin writing your book you must choose a topic to write about. Make sure that you only write about subjects that interest you and that you have extensive knowledge about. This will make the writing process easier and will also help you in the future when readers begin asking for additional information. If you have written about a subject that you do not understand you might find yourself in the embarrassing situation of not being able to answer questions. If you have written about a subject that you are comfortable with you will be able to easily turn questions into sales by referring readers to additional products and services.

After you picked a subject or two that you are interested in you must research the demand for books on the subject. There are many different topics that are of interest to many people and there are ways to find out what subjects are more popular than others. Search to see what keywords are being searched on major search engines and sites like Google or Yahoo. These web sites will give you an idea of what topics are popular and what products are needed by a large group of consumers. Also, check the sales rank of various products and books on sites like Amazon.com so that you can determine what products people want to read more about. When you have done your market research and decided what to write about it is time to get your pen and start putting together your book.

If you are nervous or concerned about your perceived lack of writing skills don’t let things get you down. As long as you have knowledge on your chosen writing topic and the product you are promoting you will do fine. Remember, by writing your book you are opening yourself up to a world of possibilities. Not only will you be able to promote your own products and services, you will also be showing the world that you have enough experience and expertise to write your own book. Readers will usually want to know more which will give you the opportunity to write more books, give lectures, and much more.

So as a quick outline to promote your business:

1. Decide you want to promote your business
2. Realize that a book gives you instant credibility
3. Pick a subject
4. Write a little everyday, or power it all out in a couple of days
5. Write in a conversational tone
6. Edit if you want, trust me, 93% of all books bought are never even read past the first chapter. I had dozens of mistakes in a book I wrote and even threw in comments about certain friends, then asked them to read the book and give me feedback. No one, not a single one of them must have actually read it..because they all said it was good, but never mentioned the abuse I dished out on each one of them. It was all in fun, but it was not something they’d want me to publish and sell to the public. Well, you get the idea.
7. Now Publish, either as an e-Book or physical copy.
8. Then tell the world about you publishing a book.
9. Then write to me and tell me all about the easier sales and bigger opportunities you now have.

Here are 12 Ways to Increase Your Happiness

Being happy isn’t as hard as it appears to be at times, at least that’s what I keep telling myself. Below I will cover 12 things that will increase your sense of happiness and make your life more fulfilling. Wait you do realize I mean actually doing these things will make you happier, not just the article right?

1. Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness. People are different, accept people for who or what they are, keep away from clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem inevitable still, try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along well. If not staple their lips to their knees and every time they open their big mouth they’ll walk away!
2. Being thankful is a great attitude. We have so much to be thankful for. Taking time to thank those who provide even the smallest thing will help you realize how abundant your life is. If you don’t quite “Get this” come feed the homeless or visit a third world country for a week then read that again.
3. News is stressful. Get less of it. Unless of course we are all getting good publicity, in which case please watch.
4. Being part of a spiritual group (I’m thinking church not cults) with its singing/worshiping, prayers and meditations encourages inner peace. Being part of a small group (yes, you can be over 6 feet tall in be in a small group guys. I mean small, as in a few people, not their height! Man it isn’t easy working with people that bump their heads on doorways too often.) is important in many Christian churches.
5. Manage your time. Time is invaluable and too important to waste. You never get it back. Maybe that’s why I love my whole Cutting Edge Shortcuts Concepts.
6. Laugh and laugh vigorously everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they (whomever “they” are) say -’Laughter is the best medicine’. With my 3 kids and a wife with a great sense of humor it has been the best medicine for a miserable, bi-polar, brain-damaged, impatient entrepreneur like me… :-b
7. Communicate your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. I know, I know, all you macho-manly types don’t need to say anything…then I have to listen to you in the coffee shop complaining why your wife wants a divorce or you kids never call you.
8. Try not to keep pent up anger/ frustrations in, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone. Okay, I’ll summarize this using me as an example and let you draw some conclusions…I was considered as healthy as a professional athlete by 5 different doctors…….As they tried to figure out why my heart was stopping every couple of hours. I ended up with a Pacemaker and no definite Physical answers. Wanna take a Guess if I was a quiet, yet frustrated/angry person growing up?
9. Working hard brings great personal contentment. It gives a sense of being capable in finishing our tasks. Work on things that you feel are valuable of your time. Hence, why I don’t work on cars or build houses. Oh it would be valuable, but I said capable of finishing our tasks, I can read directions and still screw something up. I learned how to swear in Italian by watching my dad, who was a great handy man, get frustrated…I ain’t got those skills, but I do have that limited second language skill!
10. Learning is a joyful exercise. Try and learn something new each day. Learning also makes us increase our horizons. Of course eating 3 helping at dinner increases a different kind of horizon too. If I could get paid 6 figures a year just to learn everyday and then share it with others I’d be in heaven……Oh yea, That’s what this website is all about. I guess that explains the stupid smile on my face so often huh?
11. Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for. Feel alive. I was never a runner but walking everyday is a minimum requirement for me. Another great reason to have a Dog too…to get exercise walking them. Sorry a little dog-lover oozed out of me there. We don’t have one yet, yet because my son has allergic reactions to some dogs and not others (Hypo-allergenic and otherwise).
12. Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, toxins and hazardous places. Well maybe not the loud noises that come from the music I have cranked right now, I mean like horns blowing in traffic or constant banging of a construction site. ( spent many days in the steel mills with my dad and had a headache every time we got home.) I love Red Rock Canyon here in Vegas, great walks/hikes and peaceful. Contrast to The Las Vegas Strip and I’ll take the wilderness over the Wildness of city living any day.

Alright that’s 12, Now Leave me alone!

I gotta go yell at the kids, fight with my wife, and consume some toxins before I get too Happy….

Is The News is Killing Your Business?

Yep, I hear it everyday on every news channel…The economy is falling, the economy is falling! But unlike Chicken Little, it really is falling. One big problem though. I also meet with clients throughout the day, and they are often telling me that business is increasing, or at least about the same as last year.

Now some prospects, as in not yet clients yet say that they need help. I understand that, heck that’s why I’m a Marketing Resultant in the first place, to help.

But what bothers them the most, and me, is why does the news insist on making us feel worse everyday? Bad news sells? Okay, how about we lay off the producers of news and the journalists that write how bad life is…would they want to hear how bad it is “Out there in the real world”?

Any chance we can get some news about people coming closer together, reaching out more to neighbors to help, or about how communities helped each other in the past? I remember hearing my grandfathers talking about the close-knit communities they lived in during the depression. People came together to help.

Now, would that being broadcast maybe help other get “Good” ideas and start thinking of how they may benefit others? Maybe even spark a new business for the entrepreneurs among us.

I also disapprove of those that say, “I choose not to participate in this recession”. Okay great, you are doing well and choose not to participate, but what about your clients, do they choose not to participate? Can you reach out to others and help them grow personally and professionally?

Just a little thought that overwhelmed me today.

Networking: Live Event about to turn Las Vegas Business World Around.

I’m speaking at a Great Networking event and was wondering what you think:

1. Are Live events fading away with Social Media growing so rapidly?
2. Is Social Media bringing people closer together or giving us an excuse not to meet face to face?
3. Does using Social Media actually help you increase your income and maybe therefor, your chance to get out to live events more (seminars, lunches, or coffee with a friend)?

At This event we actually develop relationships, not just pass leads. At this event people are actually coached on how to netowrk and grow their referral business.

The organizers are Kathlyn and JR Jaramillo. They, like me, insist on giving and giving not on getting. They are much more laid back than many of the referral groups that actually penalize you if you don’t abide by their rules. I just don’t get how people are happy paying fines to a group if they don’t refer enough people!

Think about it, would you give names just to not pay a fine? Are they really qualified leads?

What Kathlyn and JR have done is actually set up a reward system when you attend…Hmmmm? So I can go to meet business owners and professionals, network, have a great meal, build relationships, and yes get leads…AND get rewarded for doing that?

Is this the New Business Model for networking events?

Basic NLP and psychology tells you people will do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure…Do I want to be even more stressed worrying about fines if I don’t have referrals? Well first of all, if I give a referral, I want that person to be ready to meet the business person. I give only Quality leads. Now if I’ve only been to a event or 2 and I barely know anybody at a once in a while meeting, how do I comfortably refer?

Oh Yea, here’s how Las Vegas is about to be changed by networking: Education…Support…actually developing a feeling of community and family with the people you do business with. I Know, I know everyone claims that’s what they intend for their groups…and I really do believe that they intend to do that, but…and that could be a really Big BUT…What do they do different?

It seems like the 24 events I went to all had a 10 minute presentation from a business person…cool I like that and I get to understand you better if that’s you. That is one form of education. This group I’m talking about is going to hold an additional 10 minute presentation every so often too.

What is the additional speaker discussing?

How To Grow Your Business! It is affectionately called a Jump Start Program: The 10 Minute Income Accelerator Series

So even if you don’t get a lead or 2, you still will walk away with a page of notes on how to Increase Your Income before the next meeting.

Pretty simple, and something I do with all my Mastermind/Networking groups I organize, but I never saw it on a regular basis. That’s all about to change, and with the sense of a “Real Community”, rewards, and a great push to help everyone get to personally know everone else in the group (Lined up with the Economic Earthquake we as a Nation are struggling with) you will most likely see this group skyrocket in membership.
